- VARIBLE FREQUENCY DRIVE (VFD)
According to IMO MEPC76, MARPOL Annex VI now includes CII and SEEMP Part III under the Carbon Intensity Rules. Vessels rated E (one year) or D (three consecutive years) must implement a rectification plan to maintain CII compliance. The VFD adjusts the voltage and frequency of Main Cooling Sea Water, Engine Room Fans, HT and LT Pumps’ electric motors to match operational needs, improving efficiency while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
