ACO MARINE

Membrane Wastewater Treatment System

IMO has adopted RESOLUTION MEPC 227(64) with revised guidelines for effluent standards and performance test procedures for sewage plants. These guidelines include the standards of section §4.2 that specifically apply to passenger ships operating in MARPOL Annex IV special areas and which intend to discharge treated sewage effluent into the sea.

The ACO Maripur NF range of sewage treatment plants are fully certified to IMO MEPC 227 (64) including section §4.2 for passenger vessels operating in IMO designed special areas as defined in IMO MEPC 200 (62). Manufacturing, Test and Quality Management are certified to ISO9001:2009/ISO9001:2008 and EC MED Module D.

ACO Maripur NF – the highest standard of wastewater treatment plants for all marine applications.

Type Approved to IMO MEPC 227(64) including section § 4.2 for passenger vessels operating in IMO designated special areas.
Compatible with both gravity and vacuum systems
Modularisation - wastewater transfer pumps and vacuum collecting systems can be shelf mounted onto ACO Maripur NF body
Designed to treat both black and grey water in one single system Compact process due to high concentration of activated sludge in the reacto
r enabling limited space on ships and other marine structures to be used more efficiently
Manufactured entirely in the EU from high performance materials which, unlike coated black steel, are completely corrosion resistant and light weight
Unaffected by ship movement or vibration
Bespoke newbuild and retrofit solutions with complete ship system integration

Retrofit Maripur® Advanced Wastewater Treatment Systems

The Retrofit Maripur® advanced wastewater treatment plants are designed to reduce the cost of installing wastewater treatment equipment into existing vessels. Each standard Maripur® size in the range is available for adaptation to a bespoke retrofit requirement and all come fully certified to IMO MEPC 227(64). Dependent upon the design and access limitations for any given vessel, ACO Maripur® can be delivered in anything from two to five (for the larger Maripur® sizes) independent watertight tank modules which are fully tested for both hydrostatic and weld penetration requirements. Separate tank modules are then simply bolted together at the final installation site and connected by external piping. Under normal circumstances, there is no requirement for any hot work at the installation site. Dimensions for each component tank are arranged to permit its transportation through standard access ways or to minimise hull opening sizes during vessel dry docking.

Retrofit Maripur® is specified, installed and commissioned working in close co-operation with the world‘s leading ship owners, operators and shipyards. The combination of a biological process with ultra-filtration of the treated water – without any final clarification or additional disinfection – meets and exceeds the quality standards of IMO/MARPOL, HELCOM, USCG, US Federal Law Gazette No. 40, section 133, Australian ADNOC and Australian Federal Environmental agency and the Alaska requirement.

Biological Sewage Treatment System

IMO has adopted RESOLUTION MEPC.227(64) with revised guidelines for effluent standards and performance test procedures for sewage treatment plants. These guidelines, adopted in October 2012, which supersede resolution MEPC.159(55), include the standards of section 4.2 that specifically apply to passenger ships operating in MARPOL Annex IV special areas and which intend to discharge treated sewage effluent into the sea.

The ACO Clarimar MF® range of sewage treatment plants are fully certified by Bureau Veritas (BV) to IMO MEPC.227(64) [excluding §4.2]. Manufacturing, Test and Quality Management are certified to ISO 9001:2009 / ISO 9001:2008 and EC MED Module D.

ACO Clarimar MF – ACO-MF ‘Bio-Sword’ Filtration Technology

The ACO Clarimar MF biological sewage treatment plant incorporates ACO-MF filtration technology eliminating the requirement for settling and chlorination stages. Disinfection of the treated effluent is by in-line mounted UV lamp with no requirement for chemicals in any part of the ACO MF process. The unique properties of the ACO ‘bio-sword’ allow operation with bio-mass concentrations in the activation chamber up to four times higher than those of conventional settling type sewage treatment plants. By operating at such high concentrations, a greatly reduced activation tank volume is achieved with a significant reduction in both the footprint and maintenance envelope requirement.

Type Approved to IMO MEPC 159(55) and MED Module B
Type Approved to IMO MEPC 227(64) and EC MED Module ‘B’
Life–time corrosion guarantee² on tank material
Compatible with both gravity and vacuum systems
Self-cleaning ‘Bio-Sword’ with ACO-MF filtration technology dramatically exceeds all IMO requirements
Manufactured entirely in the EU from high performance materials which, unlike coated black steel, are completely corrosion resistant and light weight
Modular design concept for simple installation requiring only one power connection
Lowest running costs of any sewage treatment plant on the market with minimal operator intervention
Unaffected by ship movement or vibration

Grease Management

Galley water must first pass through a Grease Separator unit before entering any membrane wastewater treatment plant as FOG´s can have an adverse effect on membrane performance and life expectancy.

Features:
• Resistant to high temperatures
• Hygienic material stainless steel AISI 316L or PolyEthylene (PE-HD)
• Rigid construction to withstand vessel movement and vibration
• Resistant to organic solvents

ACO Lipatomat / Lipatör – AISI 316L
Housing and lower section made of stainless steel,
material grade AISI 316L

Operating Principles

By locating the inlet and outlets slightly above the separation chamber the resulting small hydrostatic pressure makes Lipator and Lipatomat Grease Separators the only units of their kind whose separation efficiency is completely unaffected by vessels movement and vibration. Grease and Sediment lift pumps as well as treated water lift station, can also be integrated into the system depending on installation requirements aboard the vessel.

ACO Lipatomat / Lipator - PE-HD

Housing and lower section made of PE-HD

• Small hydrostatic pressure with no free surface ensures that the separation process is unaffected by vessel movement and vibration.
• The ACO patented internal design ensures flow velocity profiles through the separation chamber produce effective separation of grease and sediments even during periods of high demand.
• Grease and sediment removal is fully automated on the Lipatomat range (manual on the Lipator).
• No operator contact with grease and sediments.
• Grease and sediment removal occurs without interrupting separator operation. No process down-time.
• The separation technology ensures the greases and sediments are highly concentrated, only grease and sediments are disposed of with no surplus water; so often the case in conventional static systems.
• Effective heating and short residence time within the separation chamber ensures that no grease is deposited on the chamber walls. Internal maintenance and cleaning is therefore reduced to an annual inspection only.
