Fjord Shipping AS, headquartered in Måløy, Norway, manages a fleet of 16 merchant vessels. They’ve selected GEA, our ballast water treatment partner, to install a ballast water treatment system on Key South, their 2010-built, 6,400 deadweight tonnage (DWT) oil and chemical tanker. The system will treat 500 m3/hr, is certified in accordance with the ATEX directive and IECEx scheme, carries a T4 temperature class rating, and is applicable for installation in zone 1 hazardous areas. The Trojan Marinex Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) system is part of GEA’s product line, under the product name BallastMaster marineX.

 A Panama flagged cement carrier was approached in the Gulf of Aden by a mother ship north of Somalia's eastern tip. The incident took place at 20:30 (East Africa Time Zone) 90 nautical miles southeast of Mukallah, Yemen. The armed team onboard fired a warning flare, which was ignored, and then warning shots. The attacking mother ship responded by firing against the vessel, prompting the armed team to fire a second volley of warning shots. In response, the pirate vessel reduced speed and altered its course. Somali Pirates hijack first commercial ship since 2012 !!!
Pirates have hijacked Sri Lankan flagged tanker ARIS 13 together with 8 crew members. The tanker was reportedly proceeding from Mogadishu to Djibouti, the master issued a mayday alert at position soon after which communications were lost with the vessel.
